Gold
Team Two Educational Contract 2007-2008
We, the members of Gold Team Two,
in order to form a more perfect union, have drafted this contract in response to
the needs of our team. We have kept in mind the three philosophies of
I. Safety.
There are four types of safety: emotional safety, physical safety,
academic safety, and social safety.
Emotional
Safety. An observer would see us
respect our teammates' emotional safety by witnessing:
Students inviting a lone student to join into a group activity or lunch table.
People not laughing at someone's questions, answers, or their expressed
feelings.
People not making fun of other people's disabilities when they are shown.
Encouragement or kind words are offered, but privacy is respected when someone
appears down.
People stopping rumors and erasing graffiti on desks and walls.
People not being bothered because of race, family, religion, looks, dress or
grades.
Physical
Safety. An observer would see us
respect our teammates' physical safety by witnessing:
An absence of bullying.
People respecting personal space, privacy, and property at desks and lockers.
Reduced use of backpacks during the day or safer storage under desks and behind
chairs.
People warning others about open top lockers.
Students voluntarily not allowing hallways to be come overcrowded.
Objects no longer being thrown in halls and classes.
People standing-up for underdogs.
Academic
Safety. An observer would see us
respect our teammates' academic safety by witnessing:
Students inviting a lone student to join into a group activity.
People not laughing at someone's answer or expressed feelings, whether they are
wrong or right to others.
People showing respect by being quiet when someone else is speaking or
presenting.
Without being asked, students will be giving information about a class to
someone who was absent earlier.
Students not correcting a slower reader and following at their pace.
Students offering appropriate help every day in almost every class.
Social Safety.
An observer would see us respect our teammates' social safety by witnessing:
People stopping rumors and erasing graffiti on desks and walls.
People not being bothered because of race, family, friends, religion,
looks/dress or grades.
Students inviting a lone student to join into a group activity or lunch table.
Students asking teachers if activities can be done in small groups.
People giving people chances.
II. Learning.
People attend school in order to learn and so that they can be productive,
educated members of society.
We can improve our own learning by:
Asking questions when we are unsure of the material, instructions, or the order
of steps.
Having group activities where everyone participates.
Review games and artistic opportunities for a better grade.
Field trips that are part of a test grade; putting fun in tests.
We can improve our teammates' learning by:
Following the things we listed in the safety section.
Letting others' learn at their own speed without negative comments.
Forming study groups.
Students inviting a lone student to join into a group activity.
Asking teachers if activities or class work can be done in small groups.
Treating people better.
III. Fun. Learning
can be more memorable with an added element of fun.
We can have fun this year by:
Having class outside.
Going on different field trips.
Field trips that are part of a test grade; putting fun in tests.
Review games and artistic opportunities for a better grade.
We can help others to have fun this year
by:
Trying to get more people to participate in activities.
Including more people in social times everyday activities-- Get more friends.
Offering help, not waiting to be asked for it.
