The Four Levels of Grading:

Level Four, 10 points:
The question is answered completely and correctly using strong topic sentences, strong supporting detail, and strong concluding sentences.  The answer is very in depth.  There are no spelling, punctuation, capitalization, or blatant grammatical errors to limit comprehension.  The sentences are complete containing no sentence fragments, run-on sentences, or unclear statements.

Level Three, 7 points:
The answer is correct, but lacks the detail of more complete thought.  The writing strays from the topic.  The literature terminology is not used.  There may be small errors in mechanics; spelling, punctuation, fragments, run-on sentences.  More specific detail is needed about the story to be considered an honors level answer.

Level Two; 4 points:
The answer is too brief and needs to be in much more specific detail to be considered complete.  There are many grammatical and mechanical errors that make the work hard to understand clearly.

Level One; 0 points:
Major work is needed.  The answer is unacceptable for middle school work.  The answer doesn't coincide with the question asked. Major problems in grammar and mechanics makes the work hard to understand clearly enough for credit.
