Adler. D. (1995) Child of the Warsaw Ghetto.  Holiday House. This biographical story is told through the eyes of an orphaned child in the Warsaw Ghetto.

Adler, D. (1984)  Hilde and Eli, Children of the Holocaust,  Holiday House.  Bigraphy of the children of the Rosenzweig family. Of more than one hundred cousins, about 30 survived the holocaust.

Allan,K.K.,  Miller, M.S. (2000), Literacy and Learning. Houghton/ Mifflin.  A pedagogical tour through various comprehension techniques for use in secondary educational settings.

Bachrach,S. Tell Them We Remember  A complete history of the Holocaust, from its beginnings in Nazi Germany, descriptions of ghetto’s and concentration camps, and reports of resistance and rescues.

Friedman, I.  (1984) Escape or Die; Stories of Young People Who Survived the Holocaust.  Yellow Moon Press.  First-person accounts of genocide that allow the reader to understand the common factors that allow genocide to occur.

Furman, H. (1983)  The Holocaust and Genocide; A Search for Conscience.  The Anti deformation League.  An anthology for students that is so complete, it could be the text for a year-long course.  It contains many views and articles from the Nazi holocaust and others.

Meinbach, A.M., Kasserenoff, M.K., (1994)  Memories of the Night; A study of the Holocaust.  Frank Schaffer Publications.  This book is a source for many "Through Their Eyes" eyewitness accounts of genocide and teaching ideas for many middle level novels that contain genocide.

Polacco, P. (2000)  The Butterfly,,  Penguin Putnam The picture book story of a small French village and the French resistance that helped hide people from the Nazi’s.

Speigelman,A. (1993)  Maus : A Survivor's Tale : My Father Bleeds History/Here My Troubles Began. Pantheon.  Comic book allegory that won a Pulitzer Prize.  It has received fantastic reviews for drawing parallels to the rise of Nazi Germany.

Volavkova, H. (1984) I Never Saw Another Butterfly; Children’s Drawings and Poems from Terezin Concentration Camp, Schocken. 1942-1944. Children’s poetry that ranges from tragic to hopeful.
