All answers are to be in complete sentences and are at least a paragraph in length.  If you haven't quoted something with a page number, you should've.

Prologue and Ch.1 Due Monday, Jan. 25.

1.  Discuss two different sides of Simon's personality.  Use character traits with quoted supporting detail from the text.

2.  Create a character chart for each character introduced.  Leave extra room at the bottom for character that emerge throughout the novel. Column headings should include:

1.  Describe the plan the group concocts after school at their meeting after school.

2.  Explain the guilt Devin feels in this chapter.

3.  What unusual ability does Simon discover he has in this chapter?

4.  Why is Kyle not worried about the police?

Ch. 5+6 Due Thursday, January 28.

1.  Look up the word "Rationale" in the dictionary and define it.  How does Kyle rationalize the actions of "The Project"?

2.  Why is it strange that Devin and and Liz become friends?

3.  Complete the section of the character chart, where applicable, that show which colleges each teen is hoping to attend.

4.  Whom does Simon meet while in a coma?  What doe he and Simon both see and not see.

Ch 7 Due Friday, January 29.

1. What new problem does Devin encounter?

2.  What crime does Liz commit?  How does she rationalize it?  How could it be significant?

1.  What causes Devin to give up on things?  What things does she give up in Ch. 8?

2.  What deal does Devin strike on pages 194-195?

3.  What do the detectives discover? (Shorter)

4.  How are Kyle and Danny relieved? (Shorter)

5.  How has Jessup changed?  What's his story?

Ch 13+14 Due Friday, February 4.

1. What sickens Simon at the start of chapter 13?  Go into detail. (Longer)

2.  What truth emerges from Simon about the accident, and about the murder? (Longer)

3. Why is Simon no longer a suspect? (Shorter)

4.  Which decision does each character make? (Longer)
